Ericsson Developer Program opens the telecom world to IT developers. The program helps independent software vendors (ISVs) to create applications that incorporate telecommunication network capabilities, such as location-based services, charging, messaging and presence, with sustainability in mind.

Internet and telecom networks are merging into all-IP networks. Soon consumers will expect to have multimedia services available at all times wherever they are, via any screen, whether on a mobile phone, a PC or a TV. This new, dynamic business landscape presents both opportunities and challenges to ISVs.

To help ISVs develop the next generation of converged multimedia services, the developer program provides:

• Technical documentation            
• Software development kits (SDK)           
• Service Development Studio – a tool for developing and testing converged multimedia applications based on IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS)            
• Test services            
• Developer support            
• Discussion forums            
• Training            
• Invitations to events and competitions

Technical, business and sales support for ISVs is offered by the Ericsson Developer Program and its global network of expert centers. Program members may deepen their involvement with Ericsson and become a partner with the company. Applications offered by partners are then marketed by Ericsson and presented to operators around the world. This opens up a phenomenal marketing and distribution channel for the ISV that is about to enter the telecom world.

Ericsson Developer Program promotes openness, collaboration and standardization. It is an initiative that benefits all players in the new communication industry, including operators, handset manufacturers, media companies, leading IT companies and application developers, and telecom network vendors. The program helps operators identify and implement new and profitable services, matching their needs with the offerings of content and application providers. With the launch of new converged multimedia services, Ericsson is prepared to meet the increased demand for higher bandwidth and more efficient network equipment.
